HORNETS WIN BACK TO BACK 


The Angola Hornets used a smothering defense and nearly flawless free throw shooting in the 4th quarter to defeat New Haven 47-37 in the boys 3A Sectional 22 championship at Garrett. it marks the 1st time since 1963 Angola has won back to back titles and their 3rd in 4 years. Joel Knox led three players in double figures with 14 points, Dyer Ball added 13 and Luke Honer 10. The Hornets (20-5) now advance to the Marion Regional on Saturday to face the host Giants (17-7) at 10 AM, topped ranked Delta and Tippy Valley will play in the 2nd game at noon.  


GYMNAST MAKE HISTORY

The Angola gymnastics team made history on Saturday by advancing to next weekends state finals after finishing 3rd at the Huntington North Regional with a score of 104.9 . Freshman Ashtyn Evans finished 4th in the all around (35.425) while fellow frosh Gracie Flatt (34.825) finished 7th and Sophomore Emma Schoenherr was 9th in the all around (33.225).  The Lady Hornets finished behind regional champ Carroll (107.7)  and 2nd place Homestead (106.0) . The state finals will be held at Noblesville High School next Saturday.





ANGOLA ADVANCES TO CHAMPIONSHIP


The Angola Hornets cruised into their fourth straight sectional final by defeating host Garrett 50-32 Friday night. Leading start to finish the Hornets built a 22 point lead in the 2nd half, Dyer Ball led all scorers with 14 points while Luke Honer and David Frank combined for 18 points and 12 rebounds. Angola will now shoot for back to back sectional titles and their third in the last four years when they take on New Haven Saturday night at 7:30. The Hornets and Bulldogs didn't play in the regular season, but exactly one year ago March 2nd 2018, Angola defeated New Haven 50-45 in the sectional semifinals. 



HORNETS WIN SECTIONAL OPENER

Angola (18-5) defeated FW Concordia  (12-11)Tuesday night 43-39 to advance to the semifinal against host Garrett (3-19) on Friday. Sophomore Joel Knox tossed in a game high 10 points and the Hornets hit free throws down the stretch to preserve the win.  In the second contest New Haven defeatet Leo 54-40 and will play Woodlan on Friday. 


GYMNAST AT HUNINGTON REGIONAL SATURDAY


Fresh off a  school record 109.4 in winning the Wawasee sectional the Angola Lady Hornets will take part in the Hunington North Regional on Saturday. The 109.4 was the 10th highest score posted in the state this year.
